POEM: A PICTURE TWO INTERPRETATIONS

A good day to you in any part of the world that you are in. I came across this picture somewhere and the below are interpretations I have given to it. The first poem is about the insecurities here in my country Nigeria and other parts of the world. The other one is about a visitor that comes without human foreknowlege. DEATH.

FROM THE UNDERWORLD

We scream all the time,
But our screams are like whispers,
To the guy of the underworld.
The one with the hood,
With the faces we are scared to behold.

Holding out placards,
Shouting from our throat,
Doesn’t work anymore.
Because no matter what we do,
The deed will still be done.

Our eyes can no longer
Close completely,
In fear of what might
Become our fate,
No matter our screams or cries.

The one in the hood
Has come to steal, kill and destroy.
Gaining entrances into our lives,
Without invitations.
And on his departure,
We are left with the scars
As a reminder.

…. LIKE A THIEF IN THE NIGHT

If it only comes at night,
It might have just been right.
We wouldn’t have to stare,
Cos it comes with fear.

If it had given a notice
We wouldn’t all be novice.
We would have packed our luggage
And not bother about our storage.

The hollow face,
With no sex,
With the pang of pain,
Making us insane.

If it made an announcement,
We would have done our management.
We wouldn’t all have to work,
With no reward.

If it had given a notice, We would have just,
Sat down and watched,
Keeping vigils.

  1. You have shown dexterity in your work. God will perfect it and advertise you.
You shouldn’t rest on your oars till you make it the best.
