POEM: STARING AT THE FUTURE

Sometimes we all sit and wonder what the future beholds. What we stand to gain after every struggle. Our parents play major roles in making sure we succeed no matter the mistake we have made. This is a poem that x-rays that.

Gently I sat, staring at the future
Or something like that.
Mama said I should stand
Minding my work.
Papa said I should bend
Doing the work.

Gently I sat, staring at the future
or So I thought.
My peer said, take a stick and pluck the eye.
My pet said, close your eyes
And go to sleep.

Gently so gently, I sat,
Staring at the future,
With a dent on it.
Mama took soap sprayed on it,
Papa took water washed off the stain.

Gently I stood away from my peer.
Gently I bent over my pet.
Gently I stared at the future,
With the signature of Mama
And Papa on it.
The future will be bright.
